Use Visual Aids Effectively – Part 2

9 Minutes Level: Intermediate Rating

This course reviews the physical delivery skills associated with presenting visual aids. Too often, presenters focus all their attention on the content of the slides and miss the important aspects of connecting the audience with the visual message. We'll cover “Clear the News” position as well as the “Tell the Story” position. These positions are named after the actions you take in each spot.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand that when delivering visual aids, your first job is to ‘Clear the News.’
  • Learn why and how the “Tell the Story” position helps you expand or elaborate on the presentation slide’s content.

Description

To help you differentiate between the two positions, note that most of your presentation will take place in position two. The only time you use position one, the ‘Clear the News’ position, is when a new slide or visual aid is revealed to the audience. It's recommended that you rely on the ‘Tell the Story’ position to open and close your presentation because you’re closer to your audience.
